phpNuke is a well-known portal solution and the base of a lot of other open source CMS projects. Think about postNuke, phpWebSite or Xoops. I did an interview with Francisco Burzi, the man behind the phpNuke project.
Mr. Burzi tells about his family, his job, the future of phpNuke and his thoughts on theoretical aspects of content management systems.
Thanks to Robert Kennedy for proof-reading!
What happened before nuke (the PERL program)?
It died in misery. It was an incomplete attempt to do something. I do not even have it anymore.
What are your other current projects?
I'm creating two sites focusing on a potential for very big communities. One is about movies and the other one is about personal contacts.
Out from the net I'm investing in other things like real estate.
Would it make sense to make the various nuke-developers cooperate? Or to start a whole new project?
I think that cooperation between developers of different projects is nonsense.
Each one of us has a vision, different goals and ways to do our stuff. And if we unite the user will lose an important feature: the diversity, and that will harm the effort to provide benefits.
Thank you very much!
No way! Thanks to you for this great and super-complete interview!
